Became MP by defeating OP Chautala
Birender Singh became an MP for the first time from Hisar Lok Sabha constituency in the year 1984. He became MP for the first time by defeating INLD’s Omprakash Chautala. In 2010, he was nominated as a Rajya Sabha member from a Congress ticket. But after being associated with the Congress for 42 years, Birender Singh joined a rally in Jind on 16 August 2014 in the presence of BJP President Amit Shah. In June 2016, the BJP again sent him to the Rajya Sabha. Birender Singh is a Rajya Sabha member till the year 2022.
Wife and son took charge of politics
His son and former IAS officer Brijendra Singh won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Jind, and in the 2014 assembly elections, thanks to Birendra Singh’s wife Premlata, BJP could win from this seat for the first time. Premlata defeated the then MP Dushyant Chautala, who was the INLD candidate.
