BJP has fielded Nitesh Rane as its candidate from Kankavali. Shiv Sena has strongly opposed this. Because the history of feud between Shiv Sena and former Shiv Sainik Narayan Rane is old. Shiv Sena has talked about bringing down Satish Sawant from Kankavali and teaching a lesson to Nitesh Rane.
Narayan Rane remained CM for only seven and a half months, but he has great stature and interference in the politics of Maharashtra. This is the reason why Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was present in the merger of his party with BJP, said that BJP will benefit because of Narayan Rane.
Journey from Chicken Shop to the corridor of politics
In the politics of almost three decades, Narayan Rane has changed the course very fast. Narayan Rane was born on 10 April 1952 in a normal family. Before joining politics, Narayan Rane had opened a chicken shop for employment. Narayan Rane’s opponents allege his criminal history. Rane is accused of being associated with the Haraya-Narya gang operating in the Chembur area of North-East in the sixties. At the same time, a case of murder is also said to be registered against Rane at Ghatla police station. It is also said that Rane had joined Shiv Sena to take revenge on Mahadev Thakur of the rival gang.
Narayan Rane was popular among youth
In 1968, only at the age of 16, Narayan Rane started connecting the youth with Shiv Sena. After joining Shiv Sena, the popularity of Narayan Rane increased day by day. Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray was also impressed by the fame of Narayan Rane among the youth. His organizational ability soon made him the branch chief of the Shiv Sena in Chembur.
Became MLA for the first time in the year 1990
Rane’s youthful zeal and leadership ability worked to raise his political stature very rapidly. Rane was the corporator of Shiv Sena from 1985 to 1990. In the year 1990, he became an MLA for the first time from Shiv Sena’s party. Along with this, he also became the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly.
The turning point of Chhagan Bhujbal leaving Shiv Sena
But Rane’s political career gained momentum when Chhagan Bhujbal left the Shiv Sena. In 1996, Narayan Rane became the Revenue Minister in the Shiv Sena-BJP government. After this, Rane got an opportunity to sit on the CM’s chair after Manohar Joshi stepped down from the post of Chief Minister. Narayan Rane became the Chief Minister on 1 February 1999 in the Shiv Sena-BJP coalition government. However, the happiness of the CM’s chair lasted only for a short time.
Rane revolts on Uddhav Thackeray’s coronation
After this Rane’s disillusionment with Shiv Sena started. As soon as Uddhav Thackeray was announced as the working president of Shiv Sena, the revolt started dominating the voices of Narayan Rane. Rane raised questions on Uddhav’s administrative ability and leadership ability, after which he was shown the way out of the party. After leaving Shiv Sena, Narayan Rane joined the Congress on 3 July 2005.
Despite rebelling against Shiv Sena, Rane became an MLA by winning the assembly elections. Even in the Congress government, Rane became the revenue minister of the state. However, Narayan Rane has also made headlines by criticizing the Prithviraj government of Maharashtra.
Now after covering the journey of Shiv Sena and Congress, Rane has joined BJP. It remains to be seen whether Rane’s ambitions take flight in the BJP. Now the question is, what will be the effect of Narayan Rane joining BJP on Maharashtra politics? Will Narayan Rane benefit from BJP and BJP will benefit from Rane?
