According to the US Geological Survey, this powerful earthquake has come off the coast of Alaska. The USGS reported that the powerful quake was located 56 miles (91 kilometers) east-southeast of Paraville, Alaska. The earthquake occurred at around 10:15 pm on Wednesday local time. The earthquake is considered shallow at a depth of 29 miles (46.7 km). Shallow earthquakes occur between 0 and 70 km depth. According to the USGS report, aftershocks have also been felt after the powerful earthquake. The intensity of the first aftershock was 6.2 on the Richter scale and 5.6 on the second.
