Guwahati. Petrol and diesel have now become cheaper by Rs 5 in Assam. Whereas, the tax on liquor has also been reduced by 25 percent. The new rates will be applicable from tonight. The state government of Assam has given information about this on Friday. This decision to make petrol-diesel and liquor cheaper has come about a month before the assembly elections in Assam. Especially this is also a time when fuel prices are increasing rapidly across the country. Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswas announced this in the assembly.
News agency PTI told in a report that when the Kovid-19 crisis was at its peak, additional cess was imposed on petrol, diesel and liquor. Since, now the number of corona infected patients has been worked out…. The cabinet has given its consent this morning to the proposal to remove this additional cess… so now petrol and diesel are becoming cheaper by up to Rs 5 per liter in the state. This will provide relief to lakhs of customers in the state.
Vote-on-account budget has been presented in Assam today, in which the government has announced to spend about Rs 60,784.03 crore. This will be for the first 6 months of the next financial year.
