NIA raids on offices, NGOs in Srinagar, the matter of helping terrorists

Srinagar. Taking a major action, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday raided several areas of Srinagar including Greater Kashmir newspaper and human rights activist Khurram Parvez. The NIA has taken this action due to the activities of suspicious funds. Apart from this, the offices of Atherout NGO were also searched.

There is doubt on the economic activities of the NGO
The NIA has registered a new case to find out the movement of money inside the NGO. Under this, NIA will find out the source of money, expenses. According to officials, allegations of hawala racket, wrongful fund raising and financial aid to terrorists have been leveled against these NGOs for a long time.

At least three other NGOs were raided by the NIA in connection with the alleged funding of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, he said. These NGOs were established in the year 2000. According to the NIA, these NGOs were getting money from unknown donors, which were being used to finance terrorism.

In 2019, the NIA had questioned the editor-in-chief of Greater Kashmir newspaper Fayaz Kalu in relation to some articles. These articles were published in the newspaper after the death of Burhan Wani. Apart from this, Khurram Parvez was arrested in 2016 from his residence in Srinagar. However, during this a lot of controversy arose. Allegations were being made that Parvez was taken into custody without any arrest warrant. After being in custody for 76 days, the sessions court issued orders for his release, so that he could be arrested again under the Public Safety Act. (input language)
