How did the nephew Dushyant beat the uncle in the battle for the legacy of Chaudhary Devi Lal?

When INLD chief Omprakash Chautala was issuing a decree from Tihar Jail to expel his grandsons Dushyant and Digvijay Singh Chautala from the party, he could not have imagined that the grandson would one day work as a nail in the political coffin of INLD. Dushyant Chautala, making an emotional use of his great-grandfather Chaudhary Devi Lal’s title Jannayak, formed the new party JJP i.e. Jannayak Janata Party. During the election campaign, he kept calling himself and his party the real political heir of Chaudhary Devi Lal. The election picture has also made it clear that Jat voters have reposed their faith in JJP. The JJP cleared the INLD and confirmed that they were heavy in the battle for the political legacy of Chaudhary Devi Lal.

See the irony of politics that before the assembly elections, the BSP broke the alliance with Dushyant’s JJP. Today the same JJP has become the first requirement of BJP and Congress to form the government in Haryana. Dushyant should get full credit for the way Dushyant made the election strategy by setting up the party.

Dushyant proved that he can take big decisions. After getting out of INLD, his first big decision was to form his own party. The example of Kuldeep Bishnoi, son of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, was in front of Dushyant to form a new party. Kuldeep Bishnoi had formed a new party HJK but that experiment was not successful. After 9 years, Kuldeep had to merge his party HJC with Congress. Despite this, Dushyant showed the courage to form his own party instead of joining any party. With the formation of his new party, senior INLD leaders left the party and started chanting JJP.

Dushyant’s second big decision was to contest the election again from Uchana Kalan in Jind district. He had lost the election from this seat to BJP’s candidate Premlata in the year 2014. Despite this, Dushyant contested again from here. This time too, BJP’s Premlata was in front of him. But Dushyant thought it better to take the risk, which was a message of struggle for the workers and candidates of his party.

However, this year Dushyant has lost the Lok Sabha elections from Hisar. But he did not show any hesitation to contest from Uchana-Kalan.

Dushyant had displayed the picture of his future in Haryana politics on the same day when 6 lakh people had gathered in his Jind rally. Dushyant had announced a new party in Jind rally after being out of INLD. After the Jind rally of late Chaudhary Devi Lal in 1986, there was such a huge crowd in Dushyant’s rally. It was clear from this rally that Dushyant has agreed to two hands with his uncle Abhay Singh to handle Devi Lal’s political legacy.

Dushyant may not have got shocking seats in the elections, but where he spoiled the game of BJP and Congress through his candidates in Haryana, then uncle’s party INLD got cleaned up. There was a time when the Indian National Lok Dal used to get the maximum votes of Jats. After that again Jat votes started splitting between Congress and BJP. But now it seems as if the Jats in Haryana have got an option of INLD in the form of Dushyant.

Dushyant, who surprised everyone by becoming the youngest MP, will now face the real test of politics. For the first time, he will have political proposals that will decide the future of him and his party. A right decision will take him to the height of Haryana politics.
