Became Chief Minister after winning the first election in 2014
The past of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh proved to be a stepping stone in taking Manohar Lal Khattar to the chair of power. Manohar Lal Khattar is the tenth Chief Minister of Haryana. Manohar Lal Khattar, who was an RSS pracharak, won the election for the first time in the year 2014. In the elections held during the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government in Haryana, Khattar showed charisma in Karnal. He won his first election in the 2014 elections by defeating Congress candidate Surendra Singh Narwal by a huge margin of 63,736 votes. Manohar Lal Khattar also got the fruit of the service of the Sangh that the face of which people were unaware till the 2014 assembly elections, the same face also won the Chief Minister’s post by winning the elections for the first time.
The shop was opened in Delhi’s Sadar Bazar
Khattar comes from Khatri caste. He is Punjabi by origin. Khattar was born on 5 May 1954 in Nidana village of Meham tehsil of Rohtak district. Actually, his family left Pakistan after partition and settled in Bidana village of Rohtak district. Khattar’s schooling took place in Rohtak itself. After passing 10th, he came to Delhi from Rohtak. He graduated from Delhi University. After this he opened a shop in Sadar Bazar. That was the period of emergency. During that time Khattar came in contact with the RSS.
Became a member of RSS at the age of 24
In 1977, at the age of 24, Khattar joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. At the age of 27, he became a pracharak of the Sangh. For 14 years, he continued to campaign for the Sangh. In 1994, Khattar joined the BJP. The BJP made Khattar the general secretary of Haryana. Till the year 2014, he remained on the post of State General Secretary of Haryana. Apart from being the CM of Haryana, he is also a member of BJP’s National Executive Committee.
Dedicated life in the promotion of the Sangh
Manohar Lal Khattar is unmarried. He devoted his life to the promotion of the Sangh. He had met PM Narendra Modi during the time of the campaigner of the Sangh. Modi used to be in-charge of Haryana BJP at that time. The closeness and mutual trust of both is also a big reason why Manohar Lal Khattar got the opportunity to become the Chief Minister. Due to the decreasing ratio of daughters to sons in Haryana, PM Modi also started his ambitious campaign, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao from Haryana.
Khattar is the first non-Jat CM of Haryana
In Khattar, Haryana got a non-Jat chief minister for the first time. On 26 October 2014, Khattar became the first BJP leader to take oath as the CM of Haryana. However, many questions were raised on the Khattar administration regarding law and order. After the arrest of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim, the heat of Panchkula violence also came on the Khattar government. Similarly, the violence and arson in the state during the Gurjar reservation also came on the Khattar government.
