Contempt action should be taken against Yamraj
After the Calcutta High Court upheld the death sentence of the two convicts in the murder case, the families of both have requested that such a direction be given to Yamraj, the god of death in this regard. If Yamraj does not follow this order, then contempt action should be taken against him.

The applicants have requested Chief Justice TBN Radhakrishnan to withdraw the June 2016 order of the High Court. In this order, the court had upheld the five-year sentence awarded by the Alipore sessions court to Samar and Pradeep Choudhary in a 1984 murder case, while the accused in the case, Pradeep died in 1993 and Samar in 2010.

Samar’s son Ashok and Pradeep’s wife Renu, who filed the petition, have requested the court to send their June 16, 2016 order to Yamraj. It has been said in the petition that the court should direct Yamraj to bring the convicts back to earth so that they can surrender before the trial court and serve the sentence awarded under the law.
