Chandrakant Dada Patil is the Maratha face of BJP in Maharashtra

About two months before the Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP has tried to reach out to the Maratha community through the coronation of Chandrakant Dada Patil. Chandrakant Dada Patil is a resident of Kolhapur. Devendra Fadnavis is the Revenue Minister in the government. The position of number 2 is considered in his government. This time in the assembly elections, Chandrakant Dada Patil is in the fray from Kothrud seat of Pune.

Chandrakant Dada Patil is considered the Maratha face of BJP. He worked to strengthen the BJP in the stronghold of Congress and NCP in western Maharashtra. He has a clean image in the Maratha community. During the Maratha movement in Maharashtra, Chandrakant continued to communicate with the agitators on behalf of the Dada Patil government.

Chandrakant Dada Patil was born on 10 June 1959. Received early education from Shivaji Vidyalaya. After this he graduated from Siddharth College in 1985. After joining the RSS in his youth, Patil joined the ABVP and in two years due to organizational ability, he was made a state minister.

In 1985, he was elected regional organization minister of ABVP. During this, he raised the issues and problems related to the youth. In the year 1990, he was made the All India Minister of ABVP. During this, he made people aware on social issues by visiting many parts of Maharashtra and then spoke for the solution of issues related to education and youth. In 2004, he joined BJP and became the Vice President of BJP in Maharashtra.

However, he got political recognition after the formation of the BJP government in Maharashtra in the year 2014. In the 2014 assembly elections, Chandrakant Dada Patil won the elections and in 2016 he got a cabinet ministry in the Fadnavis government. Before this, he was not recognized in the politics of Maharashtra. Chandrakant Dada Patil is considered very close to BJP President Amit Shah.

The Maratha population of Maharashtra is considered to be 32 per cent of the kingmakers. The math of power in Maharashtra cannot be done without Maratha voters. This is the reason why the Congress also made Babasaheb Thorat, who came from the Maratha community, as the state president. Since the BJP made a Brahmin from Vidarbha in the form of Devendra Fadnavis the chief minister, Chandrakant Dada Patil was the most qualified face to cultivate the Maratha community.

Although BJP has run the Maratha reservation card in the state. But he had no choice but to be the Maratha face for the post of president. Now in the Maharashtra assembly elections, Chandrakant Dada Patil has a challenge to prove himself in a short time.
