Addressing an election rally at Aheri in Maoist-hit Gadchiroli in eastern Maharashtra, Amit Shah said that the Congress-led governments did not abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution for vote-bank politics. Ultimately, the Modi government ended this controversial provision, under which Jammu and Kashmir had got special status.
Amit Shah questioned for Rahul Gandhi at a rally organized in the tribal-dominated district, ‘Your four generations ruled the country for 70 years, what have you done for the tribals? You gave only five years to Modi ji and we did a lot of work for the community during this time.
BJP president Amit Shah hit out at Rahul Gandhi and NCP president Sharad Pawar, asking them to give an account of their work done in the district and in Maharashtra, where the Congress-NCP government was in power for 15 years from 1999 to 2014. Shah said that the Congress did not give constitutional legitimacy to the OBC commission and this task was also accomplished by the Modi government.
Sharad Pawar’s challenge
Counting the works of the BJP-led central and state governments, Shah said that in Gadchiroli district alone, 1.30 lakh toilets have been built, 48 thousand gas cylinders have been provided, 48 thousand tribal families have been provided electricity and 8000 poor tribals have been given houses. . Amit Shah challenged 78-year-old Pawar to debate with the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president on whose government has done what.
Shah said, ‘Our five years’ work will prove to be better than your 50 years’ rule. We are ready for debate. He said that the Congress-NCP governments at the Center gave Rs 1.15 lakh crore to Maharashtra under the 13th Finance Commission. On the other hand, the Modi government gave Rs 4.38 lakh crore to the state under the 14th Finance Commission.
‘Maoists are against development’
Referring to the Naxal-affected Gadchiroli district, Shah said that earlier propaganda was used that the main reason for Naxalism was lack of development. In reality, however, the Maoists are opposed to development. Shah said that the government wants to provide electricity, good roads, rail services and other facilities in the Naxal-affected areas, but the Naxalites do not want to allow this to happen.
‘PM Modi reined in Naxalism’
Amit Shah said, ‘No one needs to worry. PM Modi has curbed Naxalism in the last five years. We will free this entire region from Naxalism and create such an environment that the youth of this region will be able to compete with the youth of the rest of the world. The BJP President targeted the Congress-NCP for opposing the talk of Maharashtra and Kashmir together and said, ‘Rahul Baba read history. This is the government of Shivaji Maharaj and Savarkar. The sons of this land never shied away from the defense of the country.
