Kabul. Even though American troops have withdrawn from Afghanistan, America does not seem to be in any mood to spare the Taliban and is continuously helping the Afghan army. US B-52 bombers carried out airstrikes on Taliban targets in Sheberghan, the capital of Afghanistan’s Jawzjan province, killing more than 200 fighters.
Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman Fawad Aman tweeted late Saturday that US bombers carried out airstrikes on Taliban positions in Sheberghan, the capital of Jawjjan province, this evening, killing more than 200 fighters. A large quantity of arms, ammunition and more than 100 vehicles of the terrorists were destroyed in the airstrike. He said that American planes have been sent to weaken the Taliban’s hold on the provinces of Nimroj, Jawazzan, Kandahar, Herat, Lashkargah and Helmand.
The Taliban announced on Saturday that it had captured the southwestern province of Nimruz and the northern province of Jawazzan. Zaranj, the capital of Nimroj, has become the first provincial center to be captured by the Taliban since 2016.
