Kalidas Kolambkar is in the fray from Wadala region for the eighth time. But this time the responsibility of his victory is on his image himself. He has been representing the area for a long time, due to which he can be rewarded for his work and behavior. This time Kolambkar is the BJP candidate. Congress, MNS, VBA have fielded their candidates in front of them.
Like Narayan Rane, Shiv Sena’s resentment towards Kalidas Kolambkar continues. This is the reason why Shiv Sena workers and leaders have kept distance from Kolambkar’s election campaign. In fact, Shiv Sena alleges that Columber had left Shiv Sena along with Narayan Rane and he is a power mate, not loyal to the party.
election won by 800 votes
Despite the Modi wave in 2014, he is one of the few Congress MLAs who won the Wadala election by a very close margin. Kalidas defeated his rival BJP candidate Mihir Kotecha by a mere 800 votes. In the year 2009 also, Kalidas Kolambkar had won the election from Wadala seat.
MLA from Shiv Sena 5 times
Kalidas Kolambkar started his political career with Shiv Sena. As a candidate of Shiv Sena, he won the assembly elections 5 times. But after the controversy over Uddhav Thackeray in Shiv Sena, Narayan Rane left Shiv Sena. Following in the footsteps of Narayan Rane, Kalidas Kolambkar also said goodbye to Shiv Sena. He is considered very close to Narayan Rane. After leaving Shiv Sena in 2005, he joined Congress along with Narayan Rane.
However, in the year 2017, when Narayan Rane announced his new party, Kalidas did not join it and decided to remain in the Congress. During this time he became very close to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and as a result joined BJP.
Attended PM Modi’s rally
Actually, at the time of Lok Sabha elections, there were indications of Kalidas Kolambkar joining BJP. Not only did he attend PM Modi’s election rally in Maharashtra, but he also had a picture of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis installed in his office in Dadar. Kalidas had campaigned for the Lok Sabha election for the Mumbai South-Central candidate Rahul Shivale of NDA ally Shiv Sena.
Kalidas Kolambkar said that he is very sad with the Congress because no development work could be done in his constituency. Development in Wadala has been a big issue in every election. Kolambkar has a personal connect with the people of the area which makes him popular. People meet him because of his personal image rather than as a party leader and also solve his problems with Kolambkar.
